Cody came up with the name for this blog yesterday and I am very pleased. We were in the car when he said, “Hey, you know what’s a term for what we do? Windshield Wilderness. Because we drive around everywhere to take pictures and stuff of nature.”
The name is a title of book by David Louter that Cody saw on display at Magus Books — a wonderful second hand bookstore in the U-District. I did a quick search and the book is about ”the history of Washington State’s national parks—Mount Rainier, Olympic, and North Cascades—and considers what it means to view parks from the road and through a windshield.”
Although I want to go hiking more and eventually backpacking, I am very happy with the name!
